Tourists being attracted by 'scorpion man' in Thailand
A man who has taken up a rather unusual pastime has been attracting the attention of those on cheap holidays in Thailand, it has emerged.
Suang Puangsri, aged 38, spent years cooking and sell scorpions to hungry passers-by, but now, as a practicing Buddhist, has decided to punish himself for this by taking up home with 4,600 of the creatures.
He told Reuters: "Although I was happy to have money, I felt suffering deep inside as they were being harmed by me. I felt scared that I was committing a sin."
Travellers have now begun to stop by his home in the small village of Fark Ta in the Uttaradit region, where he makes a living carving animal figurines.
