Qatar Airways has kick started its 2012 expansion programme after launching scheduled flights to Tbilisi, Georgia via Baku, Azerbaijan.
Airline’s CEO, Akbar Al Baker who led a delegation on the Baku and Tbilisi inaugural flight QR976, said that Azerbaijan’s expanding tourism and energy reserves were potential elements that led the airline to initiate operations there.
Doha International Airport based airline, Qatar Airways is to operate a new two-class configuration Airbus A320 plane on the route. With 132 economy-class seats and only 12 business-class seats the airline has clearly signalled that the service is going to be highly rewarding for travellers seeking cheap flight tickets to travel with Qatar Airways.
Whether it is economy-class travellers with comparatively cheap flights tickets or business-class travellers, Airbus A320 will offer onboard TVs featuring over 900 audios and videos on demand to all its customers.
Qatar Airways is expanding its network in Europe by adding two more cities in South Eastern continent route. Currently the airline provides connection to Ankara, Athens, Barcelona, Berlin, Brussels, Bucharest, Budapest, Venice, Copenhagen, Frankfurt, London Heathrow and Madrid across Europe.

As part of its 2012 expansion plan, Qatar Airways will serve seven new destinations including Kigali (Rwanda) from March 21; Zagreb (Croatia) from May 9; Perth (Australia) from July 3; with dates yet to be proclaimed for other new routes – Mombasa (Kenya), Zanzibar (Tanzania), Helsinki (Finland), and Gassim (Saudi Arabia).

Qatar Airways Pleases its Fans
Qatar Airways fans who until now missed the Doha based airline’s premium hospitality in the UK can rejoice as the airline has opened a new lounge at Terminal 4 of the London’s Heathrow Airport. Well, the lounge is only for the airline’s first and business class passengers!
Interestingly, the lounge resembles a boutique hotel and boasts swanky delicatessen, Signature Martini bar, private shower services, heated floors and mirrors, toiletries, free Wi-Fi network for utmost comfort to those booking tickets for flights to London.
The airline also announced raising the number of flights on the Heathrow- Doha route from daily four to five from March 25. So all those late bookers who were aiming for booking cheap economy class tickets on flights to London for Olympics 2012 do have a chance!

Tickets on flights to London may further get cheaper with Qatar Airways, for it is planning to be the first airline to operate Boeing 787 from the UK (London as its first destination outside the Gulf). That, if the airline makes mind to pass on the fuel cost savings from it’s highly fuel efficient Dreamliners to travellers in the form of cheap flight tickets. The airline gets its Dreamliner this coming summer.
Not just fuel efficient, flight aboard Dreamliner means more space and more comfort with higher seat pitch, even for those buying economy class cheap flight tickets.
The airline will also serve one of its five daily flights on Heathrow-Doha sector with Deamliner. The 787 flight to London will feature plenty of economy seats due to its bigger size and two class configuration.

Qatar Airways continues expansion of flights to India
Delhi, Cochin and Amritsar are set to benefit from an increase in regular flights from Qatar Airways. The airline has announced that it will increase its flights to the Indian cities by 20 per cent over the coming months as its expansion continues.
Flights to Delhi from Doha will include an extra daily service from the end of October, while Cochin will benefit from the addition of four flights a week by November 5th.
Akbar Al Baker, chief executive of Qatar Airways, said: "With these frequency increases in India and six new recently announced upcoming routes, we look forward to further global expansion to even more exciting destinations between October and January." He added that the expansion of routes over the past year has led to an increase from 56 to 88 flights to India.
