Sachin Tendulkar to Take Guard for One Last Time in Mumbai

World cricket's most prolific run-getter Sachin Tendulkar will play his 200th and final Test match at his home ground in Mumbai.  He will play the match against West Indies in November 2013, bringing the curtain down on a more than two decades long international career. Tendulkar, who is revered like a god in cricket-crazy India, began his international career against the country’s arch rival Pakistan in 1989 as a 16-year-old. Since then, the man who is rather diminutive in size has gone on to be labelled as arguably the best batsman ever in the history of the game.
Tendulkar has a number of cricket records to his name. The iconic batsman holds the record for playing the maximum number of test matches. He holds the record for scoring most number of test and one-day international runs, besides holding the record for maximum international test centuries.

Sachin Tendulkar will play his 199th test in the India-WI series opener at Kolkata's Eden Gardens from Nov 6-10. The 200th will be played at Wankhede Stadium from Nov 14-18. After the end of this two-match series, the legendary cricketer will retire from all forms of the game.

Both matches are expected to be sell out, with not only regular fans but even VIPs, officials, former players and celebrities hoping to offer a rousing farewell to the man they call the ‘Master Blaster’. The fact that Sachin Tendulkar’s mother will be watching him play an international match for the first time will make the swansong even more special.

The touring Caribbean side will also play three ODIs against India slated for November 21, 24 and 27.

Sachin Tendulkar to bid farewell in Mumbai

Sachin Tendulkar will be ending his long and illustrious cricketing career at his home ground, Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium. He will be part of the Indian test team for one final time for the series between India and West Indies that’s scheduled for the month of November this year.

Sachin Tendulkar is easily India’s most loved sports icon and is undoubtedly one of the most respected names everywhere cricket is played. Revered as ‘god of cricket’ in the country, Sachin holds almost every batting record of the game. The soft-spoken, right hand batsman is world cricket's most prolific international run-scorer and has a record 100 international centuries to his name. He has scored a record 15,837 runs to date in Test matches, and in one-day internationals, the ‘Master Blaster’, as he is lovingly known, amassed 18,426 runs. The legend has already retired from the ODIs as well as T20 cricket.

The historical test series between India and West Indies will have two matches. The first one will be played in Eden Gardens of Kolkata and the second, which will be Sachin’s last and also incidentally his landmark 200th, will be played at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium. A huge gathering is expected to mark the man’s penultimate and ultimate outings. A list of officials, former players, celebrities and VIPs are expected to be there at both stadiums. Sachin Tendulkar’s mom will be among the thousands thronging to see his final bow in Mumbai. She has never seen her prodigious son play in an international match before!

Seldom in the history of cricket or any other sport there has been a man who has carried the hopes and aspirations of over a billion people, offering them boundless joy with his every triumphant outing. It is time for this man to bow out. And make no mistake about it, the entire cricketing world will stand up in respect!
