India wins best destination award

More people could be looking to take cheap flights to India after the country was named as the best destination in the world at the World Travel Awards.

Union Tourism Minister Shri Subodh Kant Sahai picked up the trophy for best destination and best marketing campaign from Graham Cooke, chairman of the World Travel Awards, at the ceremony in London on November 8th 2011.

Mr Sahai said that it was a privilege for the country to be given the prize.

Indian travel companies in the running for World Travel Awards

People who are jetting off on flights to India for their holidays will no doubt be pleased to hear that the country's tourism industry has performed well at the nominations stage of the World Travel Awards.

According to Grahame Cooke, founder and president of the organisation, India is in a good position. "The quality and quantity of nominees within the Indian categories has surpassed all previous years," he said.

Qatar Airways scoops top travel award

Qatar Airways has picked up a prestigious award for the best business class service at the World Travel Awards.

The Middle Eastern carrier beat off international competition to take the title.

This is the second consecutive year that the company has walked away with the award for world's leading airline - business class.
