India benefits from approaching World Cup

The forthcoming cricket World Cup has helped to boost tourism to India, with many hotels reporting full occupancy.

PTI reports that tour packages for the matches are now sold out, meaning that many cricket fans will have to arrange their own flights to India as well as tickets and accommodation if they wish to see some of the action.

The International Cricket Council's official tour provider confirmed that not all of the later games have yet sold out but fans will need to move quickly.

"The response has been great. Most of the inventories for India matches, semi-finals and finals have already been sold. We have kept some inventory to be offered later," explained TUI India chief operating officer Rajiv Duggal.
