New Flights between Delhi and Male Announced by Maldivian

An added connection between India and Maldives is on the cards as Maldivian, the national airline of Maldives, seeks to link capital cities of both the countries. The carrier will be offering flights services between Delhi and Male from April or May of the next year, said the airline’s chairman, Bandhu Ibrahim Saleem.

The carrier will be receiving its second Airbus A-320 in March or April 2013 and the operator plans to use the aircraft to run services to Delhi. It has also been reported that initially the airline will operate three flights a week to the city but later on in October, as the third Airbus 320 aircraft is delivered, increase in the frequency of flights to the Indian cities can be expected, offering added alternatives to tickets seekers.

The carrier is also scheduled to begin three-times-a-week flights to India’s Mumbai and Chennai from Male in the mid of November 2012. With an augmentation in the number of flights connecting India to the Maldivian capital, the airline is hoping to attract more number of people in India to purchase cheap tickets for travelling to the popular beach destination. Even Europeans looking for tickets for travel to the Maldives will have increased tickets options as Delhi remains a highly popular stopover for tourists seeking tickets on connecting flights.

As of now, Maldivian is operating flights connecting Male and Thiruvananthapuram, a city in South India.

Popular Delhi Book Fair 2012 to Close on Sunday

Flights to Delhi are particularly popular amongst those sightseers who wish to get a slice of this famous momentous city that simply tempts with its unique cultural parade of old-world charms. However, every year hundreds of bibliophiles board flights to this Indian city to partake in one of country’s most eagerly awaited exposition, Delhi Book Fair (DBF).

The 18th of DBF started on September 1 and is set to conclude on September 9, 2012 in India’s capital city of Delhi. One of India’s leading literary events, DBF has long been a catalyst for pushing enquiries from book lovers and publishers on flights to India connecting to the city.

The event started with a record attendance from bibliophiles on flights to Delhi, domestic as well as overseas. DBF 2012 is playing host to around 253 publishers - both regional and international. Publishers from India, France, US, UK, Russia, Germany, China and Pakistan have participated in the event.

The event features around 600 stalls in a bid to encourage more booklovers on flights to India to get a slice of literary works from around the borders. With eBooks as its theme, DBF 2012 has witnessed participation from a number of Indian and foreign e-publishers. The event also features a huge variety of eBooks to tap the new age bibliophiles who arrived here on flights to India.

The efforts put in to make the event a success seem to have paid off well so far. The fair closes on Sunday and expects hordes of book lovers to be a part of it over the weekend.

Visitors who have managed to land in the city on flights to India while the exposition has been on also have the opportunity to participate in knowledge packed seminars throwing light on e-publishing.

Annually held since 1995, DBF has been a vital platform for lesser-known authors and publishers from worldwide.

Delhi Metro – New Delhi Attraction

Being a microcosm of people from all nationalities, Delhi, in recent years is reinventing itself into an international city. One of the ingredients which make the city a truly world class city is the Delhi Metro. Commuters in Delhi never had it so good. They now have one more commuting option to travel in national capital territory - an option that is safe, comfortable, environment and pocket-friendly.

Metro has come as a blessing with the 2010 Commonwealth Games, which the city is hosting, being just round the corner. The Metro system is as much a boon to the tourists for exploring the city as it is for the city’s denizens to meet their daily travel needs. Built in keeping with the international standards and using the cutting edge technology from across the globe, Metro has put Delhi in the league of world cities which have a smart, efficient and eco-friendly transport system.

Since independence, dependent on the creaky transport system offered by Delhi Transport Corporation, Delhi administration moved towards privatisation with the introduction of bluelines. The transition was like going from the frying pan to the fire as Blue line buses proved to be lethal for the safety of passengers. Driven by greed, blue line drivers had scant regard for the safety and security of pedestrians and passer-by’s.

Metro has provided a new lease of life to the city and a breath of fresh air to those who wanted a quick and fast mode of transportation. Slickly designed trains slicing through the heart of the city is a sight to behold.

The metro has provided the much needed relief from the clutches of Blue lines for those who cannot afford their own means of transport. In fact, the metro has been built in response to a cry from environmentalists who insisted that there was an urgent need to shift masses from private to public transport if the air in the city had to be clean, healthy and fit for humans. The Delhi Metro, is one of the few steps towards making Delhi a cleaner, greener city which we all will be proud of in the times to come.
