Bangkok Airways starts flights to Mumbai

New flights to Mumbai from Bangalore have been started by Bangkok Airways.

A total of six flights per week will connect the Thai capital with the Indian city as the airline capitalises on the strong demand for seats. An Airbus A319 will make the trip with a total of 118 seats available - 12 in business class and 106 economy seats.

The company is also set to start new flights from Bangkok to Dhaka from March 27th as part of its ongoing expansion plans, reported IANS.

"Demands are there and we realised that there is still plenty of room to be filled in terms of seat capacity," explained Bangkok Airways' president, Puttipong Prasarttong-Osot.

Mumbai wins 'unique hotel award'

Le Sutra in Mumbai has been named India's Most Unique Hotel at the Indian Hospitality Excellence Awards (IHEA).

Ranjan Gupta, head of operations at Le Sutra, explained to HBI that the award recognised the work the hotel has done to promote the region's culture and art.

Mitali Bajaj, head of the design studio that created Le Sutra, said: "Our uniqueness lies in the hotel being a virtual art installation where every element narrates a story from Indian ethos.

"Here you could live in the rooms of Ravana, Karna or Buddha as comfortable and plush as any five-star hotel."

Air India Express resumes flights to Mumbai

Air India Express has confirmed that it is to re-offer passengers the chance to take flights to Mumbai from Bahrain.

The carrier is to offer the service twice a week and will also enable travellers to connect with flights to Bangalore and Ahmedabad.

It is expected that the flight will leave Bahrain at 14.05 for the city of Mumbai.

Air India has a fleet of 24 Boeing 737-800 aircraft, with all offering economy class facilities and each with a capacity of around 180 seats.

As well as offering domestic flights within India, the airline flies to 14 other international destinations- Dubai, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Muscat, Salalah, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Bahrain, Doha, Kuwait, Columbo and Dhaka.

Jet Airways begins new flights to India

et Airways has begun daily flights to Delhi and Mumbai from Colombo.

The carrier believes the new flights using Boeing 737-800s will help link India's two main hubs to Sri Lanka and increase onward international travel to other destinations in Europe, North America and the Middle East. Flights to Delhi will depart Colombo in the morning, with the return flight leaving Delhi in the early afternoon.

The new connection to Mumbai will be a late-night service and will provide a direct flight to India's main financial city.
