India’s Madhya Pradesh Goes Full Throttle to Promote Tourism

India is a top travel destination and states of the country are working hard to make sure it remains so!

Madhya Pradesh, one of India’s prominent holiday destinations, is looking to attract foreign tourists as it goes on a publicity blitzkrieg targeting European travellers.

Madhya Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation will be conducting road shows in London and other European destinations in a hope to attract vacationers to plan holiday break and entice them to book flights to India and land up in this central state. In addition, write-ups and advertisements in in-flight magazines are being offered in English, German, French and Italian languages.

Madhya Pradesh is renowned world over for its incredible range of flora and fauna that attracts tourists from far and wide to look for airline ticket deals on cheap flights to India. The state’s heritage is also a colossal beguiler and acts as a big time temptation for tourists who plan holiday tour to India. Most heritage properties in the region have private owners and the government has reportedly urged these owners to develop their heritage properties as attractions for tourists.

Already, tourist inflow to Madhya Pradesh is on upswing. 2.69 lakh foreigners landed up in Madhya Pradesh in the year 2011 as compared to 2.5 lakh in 2010.

An amusement park and golf course are being developed at Khajuraho, a popular tourist spot. Cultural programmes and souvenir shops are being set up to lure more and more foreigners into looking for cheap flights to India.

Several other initiatives feature on the government’s tourism promotion agenda.
